Dr. Joey Flood specializes in sports medicine and orthopedics, with more than a decade of experience helping athletes of all ages and abilities to reach their health and fitness goals. He completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy program at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and has since developed and established several orthopedic post-surgical rehabilitation protocols that are used in current practice. He has had the privilege of working with local first responders and sports teams, Junior World Championship gold-medalists, as well as high-profile celebrity clientele.

Certified in the McKenzie Method® of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy® (Cert. MDT), Joey utilizes a systematic, objective approach to understand each client’s unique symptoms and determine the pain-generating source(s), allowing him to treat as effectively and efficiently as possible. Incorporating his knowledge as a Dry Needling practitioner as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), he excels in guiding clients from rehabilitation to high-level athletic performance.

By examining the entire body for structural deviations and muscular imbalances/inefficiencies, he is able to help determine factors that may predispose an individual to developing pain. This insight helps to reduce the risk of future episodes of pain and to optimize athletic performance.

As a Certified Health Coach and Behavior Change Specialist, Joey motivates and empowers his clients to achieve and maintain his or her health and wellness goals.

Joey is a Montgomery County native who enjoys spending time with his family and friends, hiking, trail running, rock climbing, snowboarding, traveling, learning and reading. He is passionate about plant-based nutrition, environmental sustainability, and social justice.
